Mbappe Fumes Over Ref Drama in Spain Defeat

Kylian Mbappe talked with reporters after France lost 5-4 to Spain during the Nations League semi-final match. The French star disagreed with how much stoppage time the referee added to the game. Mbappe thought officials should have played at least five full minutes of extra time, as they announced. He said people might think he feels angry about the loss if he complains about referees. The PSG forward wanted more chances to score during those final moments.

France created some good attacking plays that they had not shown for many weeks prior to this match. Mbappe said his team gave up two quick goals during the first ten minutes of play. Spain scored twice more during another ten minutes of the second half. France struggled to defend effectively during the brief periods when Spain launched a hard attack. The team struggled to stay focused for the complete ninety minutes of regular time.

Mbappe admitted France improved their performance during parts of the contest against Spain. He said elite players should not make excuses about losing important matches like this one. The French team feels frustrated and angry about missing the chance to reach the final. Mbappe knows his squad has talent, but they need better consistency. France must learn from their mistakes before the next tournament begins.
