Mekies warns Verstappen not to think about the title

Red Bull Racing team director Laurent Mekies praised Max Verstappen's performance at the Singapore Grand Prix, where the driver secured second place despite technical difficulties. Verstappen maintained pace with race winner George Russell and successfully defended his position against McLaren's Lando Norris. The team employed an aggressive tire strategy, starting on soft compounds before switching early to hard tires in an unsuccessful attempt to overtake Russell, but the approach allowed Verstappen to gain six points on championship competitors.

Mekies emphasized a cautious outlook as Verstappen approaches his potential fifth championship title. The team maintains focus on individual races rather than overall point standings, incorporating lessons from recent months into their strategy. Red Bull views the Singapore result as evidence of progress at a circuit considered less favorable for their car's characteristics.
