Minister Ebrima Sillah inspects Lot 4 Foni Road project progress

The Gambia's transport minister checked out road work happening across Foni and liked what he saw. Ebrima Sillah spent Monday looking at the Lot 4 project that covers over 22 kilometers of new roads. The minister brought along top officials from his department and road experts to see how things were going. He told reporters the roads would connect villages that have waited decades for better transport links. People living in places like Darsalam will finally have good access to main highways.

The road project splits into four different sections covering various parts of the region. Workers have finished most of the earthwork and pavement on two sections already. Engineers said the whole project sits at about 70 percent complete right across all areas. The contractors built special water channels to handle flooding during rainy season. These smart designs help farmers grow rice and control salt water from nearby production sites.

Sillah praised the quality of work and said past presidents had promised these roads for years. President Barrow finally made it happen after decades of community requests. The minister also mentioned plans for a new bridge connecting different regions if funding becomes available. This bridge could cut travel time between major areas significantly.
