Mirza Fakhrul calls on the interim government to arrange elections by February

BNP boss Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wants the government to hold elections before March arrives. The top party leader thinks voting will help Bangladesh get back on track after months of political chaos. Fakhrul shared his thoughts with reporters after paying respects at a famous religious site. He visited the holy shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal during his trip to Sylhet city. The politician answered questions from local news reporters outside the sacred place.

Fakhrul and his team touched down at Osmani International Airport around half past nine Monday morning. Local BNP supporters gave the visiting leaders a warm welcome at the busy airport. The political delegation headed straight to the revered shrine for prayers and reflection. Party workers from across the region gathered to meet their national leaders. The visit brought together dozens of BNP officials from different levels of the organization.

Central Organizing Secretary G.K. Gaus joined Fakhrul on the important trip to Sylhet. Assistant Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui also traveled with the high-ranking delegation. Several advisors and committee members made the journey to the northeastern city. District leaders and metropolitan officials attended the shrine visit as well. Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas and Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid rounded out the impressive group of party representatives.
