Modi Cabinet splurges Rs 2277 crore on CSIR youth scheme

The Cabinet approved a research development initiative worth Rs 2,277.397 crore under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership on Wednesday. The program focuses on capacity building and human resource development within India's scientific community. CSIR will oversee implementation across research institutions, national laboratories, and universities nationwide during the 15th Finance Commission period from 2021-22 through 2025-26. Young researchers receive mentorship from distinguished scientists while pursuing careers in STEMM fields.

India achieved 39th position in the Global Innovation Index rankings for 2024 according to World Intellectual Property Organisation data. The nation ranks among the top three countries for scientific paper publications based on National Science Foundation statistics from the United States. This scheme supports thousands of research scholars and scientists whose contributions advance India's scientific achievements. The government demonstrates commitment to building a robust innovation ecosystem through this comprehensive research and development framework.
