Mohamad Alamin faces a nine-way Bongawan fight

Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin will compete against eight other candidates for the Bongawan state seat in Sabah's upcoming election, including current assemblyman Daud Yusof from Parti Warisan and political veteran Anifah Aman representing Gabungan Rakyat Sabah. The Kimanis parliamentary representative enters the race under Barisan Nasional, while Perikatan Nasional fields Ridzuan Agus Payong and smaller parties contribute additional contenders. Returning officer Suzlan Suhaili confirmed all nomination papers met requirements without rejections.

The neighboring Membakut constituency features an even larger field with 10 candidates vying for one seat. Incumbent Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif seeks reelection through GRS against Barisan Nasional's Rusman Dulamit and representatives from Warisan, Star, and several regional parties. Both constituencies demonstrate the fragmented political landscape characterizing Sabah's electoral competition, with multiple parties splitting votes across crowded ballots.
