Murkomen Vows Crackdown After Narok Land Massacre

Interior leader Kipchumba Murkomen promised punishment for anyone who caused violence that killed five people in Narok County. He spoke at a security meeting where he said they would catch all those involved in Monday's trouble. Government workers faced attacks when they went to survey the land in the area.

Murkomen called the attacks completely wrong. He said land creates conflicts, but people should use courts instead of violence when they have problems. Extra officers arrived to stop more fighting. Violence broke out in Angara Barrikoi over disputed land when locals blocked roads to stop survey teams.

The protest turned into clashes with police that left many hurt. Angry residents damaged a government vehicle during the unrest. Health center official Joel Langat reported that four people arrived dead with gunshot wounds. Another person died during treatment. Community elders stepped in, asking everyone to talk peacefully about the land issue.
