Museveni aide sparks controversy with ritual at war memorial

A senior presidential adviser has ignited controversy after footage emerged showing her conducting ceremonies at a Luweero District memorial containing remains from Uganda's Bush War. Hadijah Namyalo, who directs President Museveni's Kyambogo mobilization operations, was recorded depositing currency while requesting assistance from fallen combatants to secure an electoral victory and address governance failures.

The official addressed spirits at the burial site, asking for intervention against corrupt administrators and expressing dissatisfaction with infrastructure conditions in the region where thousands perished during the conflict that brought the current government to power. Online observers remain divided over whether her actions represent legitimate ancestral practices or inappropriate supernatural manipulation.

Some commentators defended the ritual as a traditional religious expression comparable to worship customs, while critics characterized the performance as an unacceptable invocation of deceased persons for political purposes.
