President Museveni named Lino Anguzu as the next director of public prosecutions, following Jane Frances Abodo's move to become principal judge. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions announced on Tuesday that Parliament will vet Anguzu before he takes over leadership of more than 2,000 prosecutors handling war crimes, terrorism and corruption cases nationwide.
Anguzu serves as assistant director of the International Crimes Department and has prosecuted complex criminal matters. Abodo began as a director in 2020 and improved efficiency and cooperation among justice agencies through reforms. The appointments committee will review Anguzu's nomination before he assumes the position that oversees prosecutions of economic offenses, human trafficking and gender violence.
