Mutsvangwa Clears Up Dubai Rumor

Chris Mutsvangwa stepped up to squash wild rumors claiming he and his wife Monica bolted to Dubai right before protests planned by Blessed Geza, a former Zanu PF member living outside Zimbabwe.

Social media buzzed with screenshots alleging that Mutsvangwa and his wife jumped on an Emirates flight from Lusaka headed to Dubai late on March 30, just hours ahead of expected demonstrations. An alleged airport official supposedly confirmed their departure on Flight EK714 at 21:35.

Pushing back against the speculation, Zanu PF shared a video on X showing Mutsvangwa casually shopping at Highlands Shopping Center. He cheerfully confirmed the date as March 31 and mentioned picking up treats for his grandchildren.

Zimbabwean netizens weren't buying it. Many suspected the video was pre-recorded and challenged Mutsvangwa to do a live press conference. Social media users fired off snarky comments questioning the video's authenticity and timing. Some argued the clip was staged, pointing out inconsistent lighting and demanding more transparent communication.

Reactions ranged from skeptical mockery to political commentary. Some users called for a genuine press appearance, while others tried to redirect attention to broader national development goals. The digital chatter reflected ongoing tensions around presidential term limits and political maneuvering within Zimbabwe's ruling party.
