Namuwongo Blazers defeat City Oilers 83-74 to top National Basketball League standings

Namuwongo Blazers defeated defending champions City Oilers 83-74 at Lugogo Indoor Arena during Friday evening action. The victory marked their second triumph over the title holders this season and completed their regular season campaign with 19 wins from 22 contests. This performance guaranteed the Blazers' first place in league standings before playoff competition begins. Innocent Ochera helped establish an early advantage as his team built a 25-16 first-quarter lead. The hosts maintained their edge at halftime with a 47-42 scoreboard advantage.

City Oilers mounted a strong third-quarter comeback behind Fayed Bale's consecutive three-point shots that leveled the contest at 50 points each. Benjamin Kawumi responded with a jumper that restored the Blazers' narrow 60-59 lead entering the final period. Tonny Drileba connected on a three-pointer with 1 minute and 23 seconds remaining to extend the margin to nine points at 79-70. Joel Lukoji paced all scorers with 17 points while Anthony Chukwuba added 14 points for the winners. Moses Mugisha contributed 13 points, and Peter Obleng finished with 11 points in the triumph.
