NCSOFT pegs Horizon MMO for 2026

NCSOFT has announced Horizon Steel Frontiers, a collaborative MMORPG with Guerrilla Games set for PC and mobile. The game will be situated in a new region called the Deadlands, inspired by the Southwestern United States. It will blend cooperative machine hunting with competitive player-versus-player conflict over resources.

The developers are tailoring the combat for a massively multiplayer experience. New mechanics include using a Pullcaster to climb damaged machines to set traps, as well as picking up and storing enemy weapons for later use. A significant departure from the original series is the introduction of greatswords, enabling a deeper melee system with parries and counterattacks.

While no specific launch date was given in the announcement, NCSOFT executives recently suggested a potential release window. They expressed confidence that the game could launch in 2026 or early 2027, citing significant internal development progress and positive feedback from those who have played it.
