Neve has expanded its 500-series lineup with the 88R LBC, a compact compressor and limiter module based on the channel dynamics section of the company's 88RS flagship console. The single-slot unit features automatic makeup gain that adjusts output levels as threshold and ratio parameters change, along with VCA bus-linking capabilities that allow multiple modules to function as a unified compression group while retaining individual controls.
The module delivers over 27 dBu of headroom with 114 dB dynamic range and 0.008 percent distortion, operating on less than 100 mA of current. Controls include threshold, ratio, release and makeup gain knobs, with switches for automatic release, fast attack, bypass and linking functions. A selectable side-chain filter provides four frequency options ranging from off to 300 Hz for managing low-frequency response.
