Nevsky Prospect Locked Down for Victory March

The Immortal Regiment march returns to St. Petersburg streets this year as an in-person event. For safety reasons, officials will place metal detectors at four locations near Nevsky Prospect: Alexander Nevsky Square, Alexander Nevsky Street, Ispolkomskaya Street, and Telezhnaya Street.

People can gather on May 9 at 11 a.m. Moscow time along Nevsky Prospect between Alexander Nevsky Square and Suvorovsky Prospect. The march begins at 2 p.m. from Vosstaniya Square and ends at Palace Square. Participants may carry portraits of family heroes who fought for Victory.

Anyone can join to honor those who never started families or whose relatives have passed away. The event requires no registration or entrance fee. Leningrad Region authorities also decided to hold an in-person march this year.
