Nga Kor Ming apologizes for the media outburst

Malaysia's housing chief withdrew controversial comments and issued an apology on Sunday after facing backlash over his response to a reporter's question about government branding choices. Nga Kor Ming said he accepts criticism regarding his behavior at the recent I Lite U campaign unveiling in Bukit Bintang and retracts any statements that upset journalists. The minister spoke at a park opening ceremony in Taman Boon Bak, emphasizing his respect for press freedom and the media's role in society.

Video footage from the Wednesday event captured Nga using a harsh tone when a journalist questioned why English appeared in the initiative's name. His conduct triggered condemnation from press advocacy organizations, prompting the minister to address the situation publicly. Nga stated his priority remains national development and urged moving past the incident to concentrate on advancing the country's progress.

The minister stressed that he values media practitioners and their constitutional right to perform their responsibilities without interference. He called for unity in efforts to strengthen the nation's standing rather than dwelling on his misstep during the lighting program presentation.
