NIA grills Sabir Ahmed in Delhi blast probe

The National Investigation Agency is questioning Sabir Ahmed, a West Bengal man imprisoned at Presidency Jail under anti-narcotics charges, regarding his suspected involvement in the Delhi car bomb attack that killed at least 12 people near Red Fort Metro Station. Authorities have also detained his brother, Faisal Ahmed, for interrogation while probing a terror network allegedly connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Investigators confirmed that Dr. Umar Mohammad, who died driving the Hyundai i20 that detonated at a traffic signal, received roughly Rs 20 lakh through illegal hawala channels. Security agencies are examining financial transactions involving Umar and two other medical professionals, Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen, who reportedly had disagreements over the funds. Officials have arrested several hawala operators and determined that approximately Rs 3 lakh went toward fertilizer purchases.

Authorities previously confiscated 2,900 kilograms of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, from Faridabad before the attack occurred. The investigation has collected more than 40 samples from the blast site.
