Nigeria just landed a seat on the International Maritime Organisation Council in Category C, and Alhaji Jani Ibrahim from NACCIMA gave props to Marine and Blue Economy Minister Adegboyega Oyetola for pulling it off. Ibrahim said Oyetola pushed reforms and built international connections that got the country recognized globally in shipping circles.
NACCIMA also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for backing the blue economy push and tightening up regulations across the maritime sector. Ibrahim said this win shows the government actually cares about maritime safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable ocean industry growth.
The chamber promised to keep working with Oyetola and other maritime stakeholders to maintain the momentum and keep Nigeria relevant among shipping nations worldwide.
