No handshake drama looms as India faces Pakistan

Pakistan's women's cricket team anticipates Indian players may decline handshakes when the sides meet on October 5 in Colombo during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup. Team manager Hina Munawar requested guidance from the Pakistan Cricket Board after the Indian men refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts during three Asia Cup matches in Dubai. The Indian men's team also declined to accept their trophy from Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi.

Captain Fatima Sana said her squad will treat the India match as a standard World Cup contest without focusing on external matters. Pakistan holds a 0-11 record against India in one-day internationals, with their most recent defeat occurring at the 2022 World Cup in Mount Maunganui. The team opens tournament play against Bangladesh on October 2 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, having won all five matches during the qualifiers in Lahore.
