NPP's Amoakoh says Mahama only honest in New York

Dr. Ekua Amoakoh from the New Patriotic Party communication team responded to President John Dramani Mahama's recent United Nations statements about COVID-19's economic damage. The former NPP health spokesperson claimed these remarks validate the previous Akufo-Addo government's pandemic response policies. She accused the National Democratic Congress of displaying honesty only when addressing international audiences rather than domestic voters. Amoakoh argued that opposition leaders deliberately misled Ghanaians during the 2022 economic difficulties. She credited former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's stabilization measures with guiding the nation toward recovery.

The NPP representative praised Bawumia's domestic gold purchase program and commodity-backed policies as essential recovery tools. Her comments followed Mahama's September 23 address at the Accra Reset event during the United Nations General Assembly. The president acknowledged that the pandemic eliminated two decades of global poverty reduction within two years. Climate change has pushed 735 million people back into chronic hunger according to his remarks. Amoakoh viewed these admissions as proof of the opposition's previous dishonesty about economic crisis causes.
