NVIDIA to Flood China with 1M Blackwell GPUs

NVIDIA plans to release new AI chips for China based on Blackwell architecture after the US export limits. These chips will use GDDR7 memory instead of HBM to meet US rules. The memory speed will reach about 1.7 TB/s, matching the RTX 5090 graphics card. NVIDIA hopes to ship one million of these chips by 2025. The company wants to stay ahead of local options like Huawei Ascend chips.

Many Chinese companies have started using local chips because they worry about future US limits. NVIDIA believes its better design will keep customers interested despite changes. The new chips may arrive as early as July. The NVIDIA head has spoken against strict US rules on selling AI tech to China. NVIDIA sees China as an important market worth keeping.
