Just a week ago, the RSF also attacked a hospital in Al-Fashir. That attack killed 70 patients, mostly women and children. There are reports of more killings in rural areas.
Sudan's government accused the RSF of targeting civilians after losing battles. It said global powers should treat the RSF as terrorists, not just part of a power struggle.
The government blamed the UN and Western countries for not doing enough. It said they let the RSF get powerful weapons from other countries.
The RSF used to be part of the Janjaweed militias in Darfur. It has been fighting the Sudanese army since April 2023. This started a civil war.
