Over 60 Killed in Deadly Market Bombing in Sudan

Scores Dead in Sudan Market Bombing.

Over 60 civilians died in a bombing at a busy market in Sudan. It was one of the deadliest attacks since the conflict got worse.

Women and children were among those killed at Sabirin Market in Karari District. Many more were hurt. The government blamed the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

The attack happened when the market was very crowded. Witnesses saw terrible damage. People looked for missing loved ones in the rubble.

Just a week ago, the RSF also attacked a hospital in Al-Fashir. That attack killed 70 patients, mostly women and children. There are reports of more killings in rural areas.

Sudan's government accused the RSF of targeting civilians after losing battles. It said global powers should treat the RSF as terrorists, not just part of a power struggle.

The government blamed the UN and Western countries for not doing enough. It said they let the RSF get powerful weapons from other countries.

The RSF used to be part of the Janjaweed militias in Darfur. It has been fighting the Sudanese army since April 2023. This started a civil war.

The world is expected to respond soon. However, experts worry the violence will keep killing civilians without strong international action.

Aid groups are also very concerned. They say many people have fled their homes, are starving, and can't get healthcare because of the fighting.
