Pakistan Welcomes Court of Arbitration Award on Kishenganga and Ratle Dispute

Pakistan celebrated a major court decision about water rights with India. The Court of Arbitration made its ruling on June 27, 2025. The case focused on two power plants that India wants to build. These projects are called Kishenganga and Ratle. The court said it still has the power to make decisions about this dispute.

India recently tried to stop following the Indus Waters Treaty without asking Pakistan first. Pakistan says India cannot do this because it breaks international law. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the court decision supports Pakistan's views. The treaty remains active and both countries must follow its rules. India cannot just ignore the agreement when it wants to.

The court decision proves Pakistan was right about the water treaty. India must start following the treaty again right away. Pakistan demands that India honor all its promises about sharing river water. The Foreign Office wants India to act honestly about treaty obligations. Both countries signed this agreement to share water fairly between them.
