Pixel 7a Battery Bulge Has Google Scrambling Free Fix

Some Google Pixel 7a phones have batteries that swell up, pushing off the back covers. Google started a free repair program for affected users.

The company offers one-time free battery replacements through repair centers or mail-in services. This program is available in select countries, including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Singapore, and Japan.

Users outside these areas can receive money instead. People with phones not under warranty can choose between $200 cash or a $300 Google Store credit toward a new Pixel phone. Those with phones still under warranty may receive $456 directly.

To check eligibility, users need to visit the official registration page, enter their device details, and submit a request. Google will present options based on location and warranty status.

People can spot battery problems through visible swelling, a bulging back cover, or the cover separating from the phone. Other signs include slow performance, quick battery drain, or charging difficulties. Anyone seeing these problems should contact Google about the repair program.
