Kenyans are hopping mad at President William Ruto! They think he cares more about plane crashes in South Korea than missing folks at home.
Ruto sent out a message on X. He said he was really torn up about the Jeju Air accident. Over 170 people died! The president offered his condolences to the victims' families and the South Korean people.
But Kenyans on X weren't having it. They jumped all over Ruto's post. They wanted to know why he wasn't talking about the abductions happening in Kenya.
Jackson Tochi posted that wounds that don't heal will bleed again. He said Kenyans are mourning their missing citizens, just like the plane crash victims. Chepkindet added that Kenyans are thinking of the abducted folks' families. Kwach B straight-up asked if Ruto cares about innocent Kenyans who've been taken.
Lee Wanjiku threw some serious shade. She said the Kenya government must be in charge of foreign affairs. After all, they only seem to care about foreigners' problems!
Ruto's trying to put out the fire. He promised again to end the abductions. On Friday, he told parents and young people to be responsible and disciplined. He said he wants the youth to live in harmony.
But folks are fed up. Opposition leader Raila Odinga and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are demanding action. The human rights commission says there have been 82 abductions since June. And 13 in the last three months alone!
The lawyers are mad, too. The Law Society of Kenya told the police chief to do his job or quit. They said he was betraying the public trust.
The police chief, Douglas Kanja, says his officers aren't taking people. They arrest, not abduct. He told folks to learn the difference.
The police watchdog is on the case. The IPOA chairperson, Ahmed Issack Hassan, is alarmed by the abductions and has sworn to hold people accountable.
