Bangladesh and Qatar formalized an arrangement in Doha allowing 800 Bangladeshi military personnel to serve within Qatari armed forces on a temporary assignment basis. Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan from Bangladesh's Armed Forces Division and Lieutenant General Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Qatar's chief of staff, executed the agreement.
The deployment will initially span three years with potential for extension based on performance evaluation. Future expansion of personnel numbers remains possible under the framework. Officials view the arrangement as beneficial for generating foreign revenue while strengthening bilateral ties between the nations.
The accord follows Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus' visit to the Gulf state earlier this year. During the signing ceremony, Hassan engaged in discussions with senior Qatari military officials and defense industry representatives regarding various cooperative matters.
