"He was one of the greatest scholars of our time," said Siaya Governor James Orengo. "He leaves behind seminal works and historical treatises."
Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda called Ogot's death untimely. "His exceptional scholarship made a lasting impact," Ojienda said.
Human rights advocate Al-Amin Kimathi honored Ogot on social media. "A giant of African history has left us," he wrote, noting Ogot's birth date of August 3, 1929.
Ogot earned recognition as a distinguished thinker. His historical writings stand as his greatest achievement, marking decades of contribution to African scholarship.
