Ruth Rojoki Mushabe shocks Kiruhura beats Twinobusingye in NRM primary

Ruth Rujoki Mushabe unseated the sitting parliamentarian, Jovanice Twinobusingye, during the National Resistance Movement primaries for the Kiruhura District Woman MP position. Rujoki captured 24,757 ballots while Twinobusingye secured 21,205 votes among party members. Three additional candidates split the remaining support, with Savina Ninsiima earning 1,399 votes. Caroline Mwijuka Amutuhaire and Allen Kagina Natukunda received 971 and 872 votes, respectively. Rujoki pledged unwavering service to constituents after her victory declaration.

President Yoweri Museveni calls Kiruhura home, where opposition parties hold minimal influence. The ruling party dominated the 2021 elections with 98 percent district support. Securing a party nomination virtually ensures parliamentary success, given the overwhelming loyalty to the NRM. The neighboring Kazo District witnessed similar dynamics, as Molly Kamukama defeated incumbent Jenifer Muheesi with 31,050 votes. Kamukama overcame Muheesi's 12,470 votes and Mbabazi Hope Kajinja's 2,977 ballots to claim party endorsement.
