Ruto Donates Sh5 Million to Kiambu Traders After Fire

President Ruto gave $5 million to help 161 Kiambu traders after a fire destroyed their stalls. Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa handed over the money at a fundraiser. The traders lost their businesses earlier this month.

Ichung'wa also raised $2 million from Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and $1 million of his personal funds. He spoke about the government's desire to help people through the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda.

"We should not listen to those saying they are angry with the government and want to go look for another government. I will not abandon this government," Ichung'wa said.

He believes supporting Kenya Kwanza helps him bring projects to his area. "We should engage in constructive politics of empowering Kenyans. Bad politics will ruin the country. If, as Kenyans, we start fighting each other because of politicians, then we will be the foolish ones," he added.

Ichung'wa thinks elected officials must work for citizens. He stated that Kenyans will decide who wins office in 2027.

He mentioned that Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga confirmed design work for the Kangangi market is under review. Public input sessions will happen soon.

Kiambu MP Machua Waithaka has asked school principals not to send home children whose parents lost businesses. His office will provide money to keep them in school during the recovery period.

Woman representative Ann Muratha noted that citizens have become more politically aware. "Kenyans are demanding what they want to be delivered. We have put politics aside and are focusing on development. In 2027, we will bring our scorecard to you," she explained.

Kiambaa MP John Wanjiku said leaders in Kenya Kwanza aim to serve their communities rather than engage in negative politics.

Governor Kimani Wamatangi donated $5.4 million and talked about improved fire response. "We have strengthened the county fire department to be on standby with fire engines filled with water at all times," he stated.

Each of the three MPs contributed $300,000.
