Ruto Pledges 2M to Rescue Millions in Sudan Crisis

Kenya wants to help the people of Sudan by giving them 258 million shillings. Many people in Sudan need food, medicine, and safe places to live.

President William Ruto went to a big meeting in Ethiopia to talk about helping Sudan. He met with other important leaders like Ethiopia's Prime Minister and the head of the United Nations. Ruto asked the people fighting in Sudan to talk to each other instead of using guns. He felt sad because many people died, and millions had to leave their homes.

The fighting in Sudan started in April 2023. Two groups, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, began hurting each other. This caused many families to run away to other countries like Egypt, Ethiopia, and Uganda. Some people stayed in Sudan but moved to different places.

The United Nations says Sudan faces very hard times. The weather makes everything worse because Sudan has both very dry times and very wet times with big floods. These problems make it hard for people to grow food. Some parts of Sudan already have no food, which means many people might become very sick or die if they don't receive help soon.

President Ruto promised Kenya would work with other countries to help make peace in Sudan. He believes fighting will not fix the problems. The only way to help everyone feel safe is for the two groups to meet and agree to stop hurting each other.
