SADC Ministers Set to Review Annual Plan and Budget

The top leaders from Southern African countries plan to gather next week for an important meeting. Professor Amon Murwira, the head of the Council, leads these talks. He is Zimbabwe's Foreign Affairs Minister and keeps things running smoothly. The different countries send their main government people to discuss regional teamwork.

Before the big meeting, several smaller groups meet to prepare everything. Today and tomorrow, senior officials will check how well their ten-year plan works at the halfway mark. These folks will look at the progress made since 2020 and what needs fixing before 2030. They want to make sure all member countries stay on track with goals.

More meetings will occur later this week as teams get ready. The Standing Committee of important officials will meet on Thursday and Friday. The money experts will meet on Saturday to discuss cash matters. They will all prepare reports for the ministers who make final choices.

Ministers from sixteen countries belong to this regional group called SADC. They come together twice each year, during March and August, to make big decisions. The upcoming meeting focuses on plans and budgets for 2025 and 2026. Most ministers handle jobs related to foreign affairs, planning, money, or trade for their home countries.
