Snapdragon 8 Elite Crushes Dimensity 9400 Plus in Gaming

MediaTek recently revealed its new Dimensity 9400+ chip, prompting immediate comparisons with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. Tests show both processors can run Genshin Impact at nearly 60 frames per second, but important differences exist beneath these similar numbers. The MediaTek chip uses slightly less power during gameplay, at 4.6W compared to Snapdragon's 4.9W.

However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite performs much better during demanding gameplay moments. When facing complex graphics, the Qualcomm chip maintains 48.2 frames per second at its lowest point. The MediaTek processor drops to just 31.5 frames per second during these same challenging scenes, creating a less smooth experience for gamers. This represents a massive 53 percent advantage for the Snapdragon chip where it matters most.

Experts believe the Dimensity chip might struggle with heat management, causing it to slow down during intense gaming sessions. Both processors use TSMC's advanced 3nm manufacturing process, but their internal designs differ significantly. The Xiaomi 15 Pro with Snapdragon even runs the game at a higher resolution than the Vivo X200s with MediaTek, making its better performance more impressive. Additional tests between these competing chips will follow soon.
