Soniccouture built Scanner Library from 401 recordings

Soniccouture and Scanner, aka Robin Rimbaud, turned his huge stash of old tapes into a sound-design instrument for Kontakt Player. It's called Scanner Library, and it packs 401 of his original recordings, with most of them pulled straight off cassettes.

The source material is wild. There are his well-known police scanner captures, electronic improv sessions, field recordings, a bunch of analog experiments, and random sonic odds and ends. Everything then got run through a pile of modular gear.

Inside, there are three sample layers that are all the same. Each one gets envelope controls, a filter, adjustable wow, and randomized start times.

Every layer can flip between Pitched, Fixed, and Backdrop modes for playback, and samples can run in reverse. On top of a solid batch of factory content, users can load in custom samples.

Specs-wise, it needs Kontakt Player 7.10 or newer, which works on Windows 10 and up, as well as macOS 12 or newer. VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats are all covered.

It's out already at an intro price of $149, and that jumps to the full $199 once the launch deal ends.
