South Africa To Soar With UAE Backed Satellite

South Africa and the United Arab Emirates will work together on building a new satellite. Mondli Gungubele leads digital transformation efforts for the South African government and announced the partnership. The Emirates News Agency shared details about the project with TV BRICS news partners. Both countries signed papers at the SAMENA Leaders meeting held during 2025. Leaders from both nations plan to move forward with the space technology project.

Gungubele spoke about the deal at the Dubai summit where business leaders gathered. He said the UAE has advanced satellite technology that South Africa wants to use. The partnership builds on the Middle Eastern country's space program successes. Officials from both governments agreed to share knowledge and resources for the satellite work. The signed agreement allows teams to start planning the next steps.

The South African minister praised the UAE's fast growth and modern infrastructure. He talked about how the country compares well with developed nations around the world. Gungubele mentioned the UAE's strong transportation and communication systems during his speech. He also highlighted the country's hospitality industry and city development projects. The minister has visited the UAE several times and sees it as a development model.
