SSHFC Brings Food Relief to Bedridden Pensioners

SSHFC gave food to pensioners who can't leave their beds last Thursday. The group spent more than D500,000 on items like rice, sugar, onions, potatoes, cooking oil, and tomato paste. These older citizens helped build the nation during their working years. SSHFC wants to make sure these former workers receive care after retirement.

Managing Director Saloum Malang runs this program to bring happiness to retired people stuck at home. "We have reached out to pensioners in rural areas this year," Malang said at the event. This marks a big step forward as they try to reach everyone who needs help, no matter where they live across the country.

Alagie Chox Faal thanked SSHFC when he spoke for all the people receiving food. He appreciated how the organization remembers what pensioners did for The Gambia. The handout happened at the SSHFC building in Banjul. Many important officials came to see the food given away.

This food donation matches what SSHFC stands for as an organization. They aim to take care of people who depend on them, especially during hard times. Their work shows respect for older Gambians who served their country but need extra help today. The corporation plans to keep supporting these retired workers throughout the year.
