St Petersburg Metro Sees 165M Riders in 3 Months

St. Petersburg subway remains the top transit choice among locals. People took about 165 million metro rides during the past three months. City officials shared these numbers recently.

Buses, trams, and trolleybuses also saw more riders. Buses carried 85 million passengers throughout the city, and trams combined with trolleybuses moved 72.4 million people around the northern capital. The transit committee reported these increases across all systems.

The city added new vehicles to serve residents better. Two modern Baltiets trains with 16 total cars joined the fleet. Three Polaris trams started running on city streets. The transport network gained 16 Sinara trolleybuses. Officials also added 17 Sirius electric buses to city routes.

Road changes affect travel in certain areas. Pulkovo Airport will have traffic limitations for nearly a week. The coastal section of the Ring Road faces restrictions lasting three days. These temporary changes might impact travel plans for residents.
