Sudan alleges UAE fuels Darfur genocide

Sudan claims the UAE helps genocide happen. They told world judges that Arab fighters attack non-Arab tribes with UAE backing. These attacks target the Masalit people in West Darfur. The UAE gives weapons to the Rapid Support Forces, who fight against the Sudanese army. Sudan wants emergency court orders to stop this violence right away.

The UAE dismisses these claims as political games and plans to argue that world judges have no power over this case. Sudan brought its complaint to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Their acting justice minister, Muawia Osman, spoke directly to the court. He asked judges to make the UAE stop supporting what he called genocidal acts.

The case might take years to finish. That's why Sudan wants fast emergency measures first. US experts think Sudan has a point about UAE involvement. American lawmakers also believe the claims hold water. The civil war has raged for two years already. Both sides will present their arguments to the judges on Thursday.
