Moses Tarakinyu crossed the finish line first at the Run for Hope Half Marathon on Saturday. The veteran runner from Black Rhinos team finished the 21-kilometer race at Beitbridge. His winning time was 1 hour, 7 minutes and 45 seconds. Teammate Tatenda Hove came second just one second behind him. Jonathan Chinyoka from ZPCS grabbed third place with a time of 1 hour and 48 seconds.

The race honored Vice President Kembo Mohadi and drew runners from across Zimbabwe. People of all ages and abilities joined the event. Runners with disabilities, elderly participants, young people and children all took part. Many said the race meant more than just competition. They viewed it as a way to fight drug problems among young people.

Tarakinyu felt happy about his victory and said the race helped him train for future competitions. He thanked event organizers for creating these chances to stay sharp. Other runners praised the Vice President for thinking about disabled athletes. One participant traveled far to join the race and won their category.

Vice President Mohadi used the event to talk about drug abuse problems. He wants Zimbabwe to become drug-free by 2030. The government sees stopping drug abuse as a major goal. The marathon theme focused on creating a society without drugs. Organizers offered different race lengths for everyone. Runners could choose from a half marathon, 10-kilometer run, 5-kilometer race or fun runs.
