A deadly crash on Friday evening took the lives of two friends riding a motorbike. The tragedy happened around 6pm on the busy Dhaka-Chattogram highway near Madhya Baushia area. Mahmudul Hasan and Mehedi Hasan were traveling together when disaster struck. The men were both from Chandpur district and had been heading somewhere on their bike. A speeding bus from Tisha Plus Paribahan slammed into them from behind.
The impact sent both riders flying off their motorbike onto the road. They crashed into another bus that was moving ahead of them. Mehedi Hasan died right there on the highway. His friend Mahmudul Hasan was still breathing when people rushed him to the local hospital. Doctors at Gazaria Upazila Health Complex could not save him either.
Local people helped police grab the bus that caused the accident. The driver and his helper ran away before anyone could catch them. Police Officer Anwar Alam Azad confirmed they seized the vehicle.
