Two Killed in Truck Collision on Dhaka-Barishal Highway

A deadly crash between two trucks claimed two lives early Monday morning on the Dhaka-Barishal highway. The accident happened around 3 am in the Sonar Bangla area of Uzirpur upazila in Barisal district. A truck carrying mangoes from Chapainawabganj slammed into another truck that had stopped on the road. The stationary vehicle was loaded with tiles and blocked traffic when the collision occurred. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.

The impact killed Sohel instantly as he worked as a helper on the mango truck. Sabuj Hawlader walked nearby when the accident happened and suffered serious injuries from the crash. Medical teams first brought the injured man to Uzirpur Upazila Health Complex for initial treatment. Doctors later moved him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced care. Sabuj died from his injuries Monday morning despite medical efforts to save him.

Sohel was 20 years old and came from Borgir Char village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district. His father Ratan identified the body after fire service workers removed it from the damaged truck. Sabuj Hawlader was 30 years old and lived in Mardoshi village in Uzirpur with his father Dulal. Gournadi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Aminur Rahman confirmed the details of both deaths. The police continue investigating what caused the tile truck to stop on the highway.
