Uganda Roasts Rivals at Houston Coffee Expo

The Specialty Coffee Expo just finished its run at Houston's Gordon Brown Convention Center with more than 10,000 visitors from 80 countries. Uganda made waves as ten coffee exporters showed off their products to worldwide buyers. These sellers signed deals with international customers during the three-day event. Mountain Harvest, a Ugandan brand, reached the finals for the Sustainable Coffee Award. Coffee experts praised Uganda's Robusta beans for their unique taste.

Uganda's coffee team met with US Ambassador Robie Kakonge at the expo. Dr. Gerald Kyaalo from Uganda's Agriculture Ministry led the group through the event. Ambassador Kakonge helped arrange meetings with American academics to boost Uganda's coffee business. The head of the Inter-African Coffee Organization also attended the expo. These connections help Uganda grow as a coffee producer.

Ugandan exporters returned home with new business contacts and sales agreements. The country proved itself as a strong player in the world coffee market. Their success at the expo opens doors for future growth. Coffee lovers gave high marks to the rich flavors from Uganda. The expo served as a perfect place for coffee producers to meet buyers face-to-face.
