Epic Games made their Unreal Engine 5.6 much faster than the old 5.4 version. A YouTube channel called MxBenchmarkPC tested both versions using the Paris Tech Demo on an RTX 5080 graphics card. The newer engine runs games about 25 percent better on graphics cards and uses more power because it works harder. Processing speed jumped up to 35 percent faster with smoother performance overall. The lighting and reflections also look much better than before.
Unreal Engine 5.6 came out this month after Epic showed it at their annual Unreal Fest event. The company added better ray tracing features that make Lumen lighting work faster. They also improved how games load huge worlds without delays and made motion effects easier to use. Epic used The Witcher IV as their main demo to show off all the new features and improvements.
