Uganda's top military commander made a special trip to see diplomats working at the embassy located inside Somalia's capital city. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Ruyogoza Barigye leads the United Nations Guard Unit Eleven and wanted to strengthen teamwork between soldiers and embassy staff. The visit focused on building better cooperation as both groups work toward bringing peace to the troubled region. Major General Nathan Mugisha serves as deputy ambassador and rolled out the welcome mat for the military delegation. He told the visiting officers that the embassy always stands ready to help any Ugandan serving far from home.
The retired general praised how well Uganda's peacekeeping troops perform their dangerous duties across Somalia. He stressed that their mission represents the true spirit of African nations helping each other during difficult times. The diplomatic leader highlighted how important peacebuilding efforts remain throughout the Horn of Africa region. Lieutenant Colonel Barigye promised that his unit will continue working closely with embassy officials and other partners operating inside Somalia. He emphasized that successful peacekeeping depends on different groups joining forces and supporting each other's efforts.
Defense Attaché Brigadier General Francis Chemonges joined the important meeting between military and diplomatic representatives. Several other officers accompanied Lieutenant Colonel Barigye during his courtesy visit to the embassy compound. The group featured Major Jacob Gowan Kaburika who serves as deputy commander and Major Topista Opar Giramia who handles female engagement duties. Captain Joseph Maada Edube works as the military information officer and Captain Mustafa Ssegonja also attended the coordination session.
