Valve's HLX Leak Teases Final Half Life 3

Valve appears close to finishing their secret HLX project that many believe is Half-Life 3. Tyler McViker discovered major updates for Deadlock and Dota 2 games. These updates contain more Source 2 engine changes than developers have seen in years. The modifications suggest the mysterious project nears completion. Valve built a brand new save and load system from the ground up.

The new save system allows players to edit any game object within save files. Other Source 2 games lack this feature since Half-Life Alyx used older engine parts. Building basic systems from scratch usually happens during final development stages. Valve added three player flags that detect saving restrictions and vehicle situations. These additions typically occur near the end of game development.

Recent updates introduced many technical features for the HLX project. Developers added vehicle support for players and computer characters. The engine gained electrical interaction systems similar to fire and material damage. Surface electrification and improved enemy detection systems appeared in the code. Wind systems that affect fog and objects also entered development.

The rumored game might conclude the Half-Life series story. Valve continues heavy development work on this unannounced project. Fans should not expect immediate announcements despite the progress. The company may reveal details during upcoming gaming events.
