Verstappen cruises in Baku as Piastri ruins McLaren bid

Max Verstappen secured victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after leading from start to finish on Sunday. Championship leader Oscar Piastri suffered a first-lap crash that ended his remarkable 34-race scoring streak. Lando Norris managed only seventh place, which reduced the title gap by six points to 25. George Russell battled illness throughout the weekend yet climbed from fifth to second position. Carlos Sainz earned his maiden podium finish for Williams with third place.

The Red Bull driver dominated the weekend and claimed his fourth victory of the season. McLaren endured a disappointing race despite seeking their second consecutive constructors' championship. Piastri hit the barriers at Turn Five after losing control during his recovery drive. Norris faced setbacks during pit stops that cost him valuable positions. Verstappen achieved his 67th career Grand Prix triumph with another commanding performance.
