VR Mod Genius Luke Ross Revives DOOM Dark Ages

Luke Ross created a new virtual reality mod for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Players need a monthly Patreon subscription costing 10 to access the modification. The VR Friend tier gives customers access to all previous Ross mods from games like Elden Ring and Spider-Man. Take-Two forced Ross to remove Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption VR mods after sending legal notices. The modder continues making VR experiences for popular video games.

YouTube creator Bearded Banjo tested the DOOM mod before its public release. He described the experience as fast and sometimes overwhelming for VR players. The mod supports head tracking for aiming but requires gamepad controls instead of motion controllers. Banjo used an RTX 4090 graphics card with a Quest 3 headset during his gameplay session. Performance stayed smooth despite some technical limitations.

NVIDIA DLSS features do not work properly with the current mod version. Ross might fix these problems during future updates to improve performance. The modder tested Optiscaler technology, which helps AMD graphics card users play VR modifications. This tool effectively converts DLSS calls to work with AMD hardware. DOOM: The Dark Ages reached 3 million players faster than DOOM Eternal, despite most people using Game Pass subscriptions.
