Wishes cross borders, even in his final scene

The late actor Dharmendra has a final movie coming out called Ikkis, and his son Sunny Deol posted about it online. Dharmendra apparently said he wanted audiences in both India and Pakistan to see this film. He was talking in a behind-the-scenes clip shared by Sunny, thanking the director Sriram Raghavan and the Mandav Films team for the experience. He called it his last day of shooting, expressing love and asking forgiveness for any mistakes. Sunny Deol's caption called his father's smile a light in the dark, mentioning his generous spirit and how the family cherishes him. He asked people to celebrate Dharmendra by seeing Ikkis in theaters this New Year.

The movie Ikkis is a Sriram Raghavan project about a real war hero, Arun Khetarpal. Khetarpal was a soldier who got India's highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra, for his actions in the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. He died at twenty-one years old, which is what the title references. Agastya Nanda plays the main role, a serious debut choice for an actor. The production focused on realistic portrayals instead of flashy action.

This film tries to show military life and combat with authenticity, sticking close to the historical record. It examines the tough choices soldiers face and the personal sacrifices they make, avoiding overdramatic storytelling. Dharmendra's supporting role in the cast adds a layer of depth, connecting different eras of Indian cinema. The overall goal seems to be a respectful tribute to Khetarpal's legacy, acknowledging the tragedy of war while honoring a nationally important figure.
