Young Zimbabwe Cannot Find Net in COSAFA Stalemate

Zimbabwe played Mauritius at Toyota Stadium and finished with no goals scored. The match happened Wednesday during the 2025 COSAFA Cup Group A games. Both teams worked hard but could not find the back of the net. Mauritius started strong and controlled the ball early. They missed two good chances to score first.

Zimbabwe found their rhythm after ten minutes of play. Tinotenda Meke shot the ball over the goal from close range. Kennedy Mupomba also tried but missed the target. The game moved to midfield action with few exciting moments. Mauritius kept pushing forward but Zimbabwe defended well.

The first half saw Zimbabwe take control of the game pace. Meke had another shot that deflected off a defender for a corner kick. Arter Kaseke headed the corner kick over the goal. Thando Ngwenya scored but the referee called offside. Neither team put a shot on target during the first 45 minutes.

The second half started with careful play from both sides. Mauritius created their first real chance after an hour of play. They broke through Zimbabwe's defense but the offside flag went up. The island team scored but VAR ruled it out for handball. Zimbabwe made four player changes but missed several late chances.

Mozambique beat South Africa 1-0 and leads Group A after the first round. Zimbabwe and Mauritius each earned one point from their draw. The tournament continues with more group stage matches. Both teams will need wins to advance to the knockout rounds.
