Zimbabwe Gold Deliveries Surge To New Highs

Zimbabwe's gold miners delivered more metal to refineries during May 2025. Workers brought 3,488 kilograms to Fidelity Gold Refinery compared to 2,734 kilograms the same month last year. The numbers show a strong 27.6 percent jump from May 2024. Small miners contributed most of the gold at 2,552 kilograms. April deliveries had reached 3,854 kilograms before the recent monthly decline.

Small-scale operations face rising costs and power problems that hurt production. Large mining companies produced 936 kilograms during May. Their output stayed nearly flat from April's 927 kilograms. These bigger miners struggled with expensive operations and limited investment money. Officials say better payment systems help encourage miners to sell through legal channels.

Gold prices attracted more miners to official selling points during recent months. The first quarter of 2025 brought total deliveries of 8,496 kilograms. This marked a 40.5 percent increase from the same period last year. Zimbabwe produced a record 36.4 tonnes of gold during 2024. Mining leaders expect continued growth with proper investment and reliable electricity supply.
