Zimbabwe Government Acts to Free Trafficked Citizens

Bad people tricked many young people from Zimbabwe to go to Sierra Leone. They used fake job ads asking for people aged 18 to 35 who passed their O-Levels. The victims thought they would get good jobs.

These bad people bought plane tickets for the victims. But when the victims got to Freetown, the capital city, the bad people took their passports away. The victims had to do wrong things like trick people through dating websites. They got laptops and had to use fake photos to fool others into sending money.

The victims worked for five months but got no money. The bad people said they would put money in the victims' bank accounts in Zimbabwe, but this did not happen.

On Tuesday, two people made it back to Zimbabwe. They met Mr Simon Masanga at the airport. They told him more than 20 other Zimbabweans are still stuck in Sierra Leone. These people went there to work for what they thought was a Chinese company.

Mr Masanga said the victims left Zimbabwe on July 4. The government wants to help bring the others home. They also want to find out who tricked these people.

The government tells people to be careful about job offers from other countries. They should check with government offices first. Mr Masanga said they have special centers in Harare and Gweru to help people check if jobs in other countries are real.

The government plans to make deals with other countries. This way, people can work in other places safely, like they did when sending workers to Rwanda.
