They hope the government keeps backing their efforts. A different farmer from a new water project in Bwanya Chivi North will start with 20 hectares. They asked officials to help clear more land so they could plant even more next time.
The government says everyone involved in wheat growing stands ready to help farmers succeed. Officials invited groups like the Grain Marketing Board, ZINWA, and ZESA to plan together. Dr. Addmore Pazvakavambwa, who runs Masvingo Provincial Affairs, said they aim to increase both land use and how much each field produces. Mr. Caleb Mahoya pointed out that heavy rains filled up dams, making water available for crops.
